Faculty of Psychology, University of Medan Area (UMA) held an international webinar with the theme ” Psychologycal Education and Economics During Covid-19 of Asean Countries ” on Saturday (06/20/2020) starting at 08.00 – 11.00 WIB. “

The webinar program was opened by a Lecturer from the Faculty of Psychology, Dinda Permatasari Harahap, M.Psi, Psychologist as the Moderator of this webinar event, and then continued with remarks from Mr. Prof. Dadan Ramdan, M.Eng, M.Sc, Rector of the Medan Area University.

Chancellor of Medan Area University, Prof. Dadan Ramdan, M.Eng, M.Sc in his remarks greatly appreciated the activity. Covid-19 pandemic has become a global issue that has had a large impact in almost all fields including in the Economy, Social, Politics, Culture and Education and also has caused social and economic pressure in almost all countries experiencing a dilemmatic problem between saving the country’s economy or safety the lives of its citizens, which of course the country will certainly save its citizens.

But this has consequences for economic growth that has decreased which has an impact on social life, including in countries in ASEAN and especially in Indonesia.

The Indonesian state must also face an increase in unemployment, declining performance conditions, slowing economic activity and the continuing spread of the virus. This pandemic also has a huge impact on the world of education which makes us forced to learn online and limited conditions of limited infrastructure such as expensive quotas, uneven signals, and devices that are not appropriate in the online learning process.

Therefore, with this webinar activity, he hopes to be able to discuss together about the impact of the pandemic and how we can adapt and jointly overcome it according to the perspective of psychology and economics and hopes that this webinar contributes to the insight of knowledge and in dealing with New Normal.

Mr. Andik Matulessy, M.Psi, a psychologist, delivered the material to the speakers and participants by giving an overview of how we adapt to conditions, namely New Normal and different reactions to individuals due to the pandemic that is currently happening.

Then the next material was delivered by Mr. Chilman Arisman who delivered his material on the reasons for the formation of ASEAN, the development of ASEAN Membership, Examples of areas of discussion in ASEAN until finally the ASEAN Cooperation in responding and facing the Covid-19 Pandemic.

The next material was delivered by Mr. Sutan Emir Hidayat, PH. D, who delivered his material on Sharia financial economics, the purpose of establishing Sharia financial economy which aims to strengthen the national economy by developing a superior halal product industry, strengthening the Islamic financial industry and then developing religious social funds through zakat, endowments or infaq to contribute to economic growth although economic growth is predicted to decline due to a pandemic.

The next material was presented by Dr. Abdul Rahman Shaleh, M.Sc., who delivered his material by giving a view to not only the process of adaptation but also beyond adaptation in the middle of a pandemic, being resilient to the situation and winning the situation and then becoming normal again
